Kitchen remap
R's kitchen is a beautiful feature of the family home. Between raising a growing family and working, the kitchen had not had any real TLC since the family first moved in.
We were able to come in and supervise a full re-zone of the kitchen cabinetry and solved one of R's main restocking pain points - helping her avoid buying duplicates of the same ingredient due to a lack of system.
Moving forward, the kitchen is now much easier for R and the family to navigate and enables them to spend more time cooking, baking and hosting to their hearts' content!
Bedroom recharge
K wanted to treat her room as a sanctuary for rest and reading for when she retreats there at night, but due to her incredibly busy lifestyle, she didn't have any energy left in the tank to do any decluttering or make organisation updates. She knew it was something that would take time and planning and had been putting it off.
That's where ROUM at home came in. We were able to show K that her bedroom could be reconfigured to fit in with her hectic lifestyle and still be a personal oasis. We decluttered an extensive wardrobe and dresser, re-zoned and added discreet new drop zones to make the layout more intuitive for K's tastes and usage.
We showcased more of K's personality by putting her favourite memories on display and creating a brand new reading nook. Soft decor updates in K's favourite colour brought real charm to the final look.
Pantry refresh
With 3 growing children, this professional couple are always on the go and their pantry needed some help keeping up. It was obvious that A had tried to find some form of order with it but as the pantry evolved into a multifunctional space, it struggled to have a clear purpose.
A was incredibly receptive to our recommendations, which made this project a piece of cake! We injected more functionality by introducing uniform storage, took full advantage of door space and made the area brighter. Moving forward, the pantry's purpose is now clear and accessible to the whole family.
Food + Organisation = Happy ROUMies. No wonder a kitchen pantry is one of our favourite projects!
Who we are
Hi, we’re Roxy and Omma - long-time friends and the co-founders of ROUM at home.
Like most people, our homes have become the headquarters of our lives. With all of the hats we wear - be it the work schedules, social calendars and/or caretaking responsibilities - our homes are the hubs for so much, every single day.
Through this we began noticing how our homes have become magnets for a lot of noise.
Mixed in with the useful stuff that we need and the precious stuff that we love, we have all of this accumulated stuff in our spaces that exists without any real purpose.
Usually living in the back of a cupboard or on a dusty shelf. It is the stuff we had grown so used to seeing that we had stopped seeing it. Visual Noise.
The other kind of noise is what we experience through our day-to-day friction points in our homes. Never being able to find the thing you need, when you need it. Everybody hates those annoying moments but we rarely have the time to work through and fix the underlying cause.
It’s remarkable to us how much noise we live with.
We have seen first hand the benefits of cutting it from our homes and how creating functional, intuitive spaces saves time and improves our positivity towards the places we spend the most time in. It gives us the space to be not only efficient, but creative and productive.
